Three Ukambani MPs have accused Vice-President, Mr Kalonzo Musyoka, of tampering with the list of nominated councillors.
The three said they would not support Kalonzo and have instructed their lawyers to move to court to challenge the VP’s alleged interference.
Addressing a news conference at Parliament Buildings on Monday, the MPs — who included Mutito MP, Mr Kiema Kilonzo, Yatta MP, Mr Charles Kilonzo, and Kathiani MP, Ms Wavinya Ndeti — described Kalonzo as a “lone ranger and untrustworthy”.
“We have just learnt that Kalonzo moved to State House at the weekend and changed the names of the people we had asked to be nominated as councillors in our constituencies and replaced them with those of our opponents,” added Kiema.
The MP said during an ODM-Kenya Parliamentary Group meeting in Naivasha, it was agreed that MPs give names of people to be nominated as councillors in their constituencies.
He said each MP drew a list and forwarded them to Local Government minister, Mr Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kiema said during the weekend, Kalonzo sent two pastors to his house to pray with him to help bury the hatchet and work together. “As he sent his pastors to my house, he was changing the names of my nominated councillors. What a hypocrisy,” asked Kilonzo.
The three said they met Kalonzo on Friday and he assured them of his support in the matter and mandated Kilonzo (Charles) to forward the names.
