NAIROBI, February 26 – The National Dialogue and Reconciliation mediation talks have been suspended.
Chief Mediator Kofi Annan said the session has been put on hold and instead the Panel of Eminent African personalities would now directly deal with President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Annan however said the talks have not collapsed.
“Given the way the talks are going and the way mediators are relating to each other I believe it is important that I suspend the negotiations,” Annan told reporters.
