The alleged spiritual leader of the Sabaot Land Defense Force (SLDF) was Wednesday arraigned in a Bungoma court and charged with a new count of murder.
The eighty-six year old suspect, Jason Psongoywo Manyiror is already facing charges of administering an illegal oath and promoting war like activities in Mt. Elgon District. Manyiror, with others not before the court, was accused of murdering Jackson Kapei Mathei at Cheptanda Village in Mt. Elgon District on August 17 2006.
He denied the charge before Bungoma Chief Magistrate, Reuben Nyakundi, who scheduled the hearing of the case for Monday next week.
Manyiror is being held in remand at the Bungoma GK Prison.
The suspect, whose spiritual title is believed to be Laibon, is said to be the chief architect of the atrocities that have taken place in Mt. Elgon District for the last two years.
