Four people died Friday while two others are fighting for their lives in Kapenguria hospital after suspected bandits sprayed a lorry they were traveling in with bullets.

The incident happened at Orwa trading centre in West Pokot barely a few Kilometers from Kapenguria town.

The bandits stole 25 heads of cattle which were being transported from Turkana to Kitale.

Kapenguria OCPD David Wambua confirmed the incident saying police responded swiftly to the raid and managed to rush the two injured lady passengers to Kapenguria hospitals where they are said to be out of danger.

Wambua said the driver of the lorry was among the four people who died on the spot with the three other fatalities believed to be businessmen.

He said the a contingent of regular and administration police officers was immediately deployed to carry out a search for the stolen animals although heavy rainfall in the area disrupted the operation forcing the security men to suspend the operation until Saturday.
