By Koigi wa Wamwere, CCM founder.
The coalition leaders and their followers are same people.
But as matters stand today, CCM is the fastest growing party, although CCM did not make it to parliament due to the manner the dec 27th 2007 elections were corrupted in many ways,(CCM won many cllr seats in many parts of the country and have deputy mayors too).
The coalition have no manifesto. Chama cha Mwananchi means “party of the ordinary person”, the have-not, not mwenyenchi, the rich. No church or mosque is without a Bible or Koran to proclaim its faith.
Equally, no serious political party is without a clear manifesto to enunciate policy, ideology and goals. Accordingly, CCM has a manifesto through which it is asking Kenyans to join it. These parties ask Kenyans to join them by propagating “party of our tribe”, “the President will be our candidate or Prime minister is from our tribe” and like the Chinese of old, we must follow the emperor wherever he goes; even to his grave. Only the suicidal join a party without a clear ideological manifesto.
In its manifesto, CCM’s ideology or guiding light is democratic socialism or equitable distribution of land and national wealth. When it comes to power, CCM will eradicate poverty, Re claim lands, make the stinking rich less so and lift the poor above the poverty line. Without a manifesto, the coalition have no ideology and is a vehicle without headlights, a coalition of the propertied class out to grab, protect loots using a tribalised powershired government.
You ride these coalition parties at your own risk. CCM seeks equality of all in economic status and party membership. None of its members is less or more equal than others on account of tribe or wealth. Unlike CCM, the coalition have “luminary” “Pentagon” members who are more equal than others. Unlike CCM, the coalition parties have no recordeds of registered membership. These parties cannot consolidate Kenya’s weak democracy.
As an opposition Party outside parliament, as a party of the poor, CCM champions democracy and when it comes to power, it will form a government of the poor, by the poor and for the poor. Hitherto, governments including the current coalition government, have been of the rich, by the rich and for the rich. After decades of plutocracy, it is time for rule by the poor. By incorporating the poor into Government and the economy, CCM will humanise the rich and the poor.
Animal farm analogy puzzling
Kenya’s Coalition Parties are animal farms of misguided sheep and goats together with lions, hyenas, leopards and other meat eaters, but are ruled by old, foxy and young carnivores whose only claim to power is that they are stronger meat-eaters who command a larger sheep following.
We all know hyenas and lions, cannot agree to stop eating herbivores after victory. Lions in (ODM, PNU, ODM-K and some of the so called small parties in parliament) have all agreed on a formula to eat sheep, they have not renounced meat eating, which they never will. These coalition will never have a clear manifesto that their government can implement. Instead, they will choose a no-party manifesto situation where there will be a “yote yawezekana( everything is possible) under Kibaki and Raila. That way it will be easy to betray without repercussions. The alternative will be unenforceable personal “visions” and a home to vicious hyenas and foxes. The coalition can only craft an alliance that can protect the interests of the corrupt and and not their victims.
To avoid transforming Kenya into a better and more equitable society, PNU have made Kibaki their manifesto. ODM’s manifesto and ODM kenya’s have been abandoned and instead they have been using Raila and Kalonzo as their new manifestos in the hope that people’s appreciation of a Coalition Government, with a Prime minister, will excuse them from having a a clear ideological manifesto. Instead of having a clear manifesto, they are asking Kenyans to give them a blank cheque on which they can write anything for themselves and not for the people.
